It’s here:  the second single of the album El Barrio Project-SALSA- “El Sonido de mi Corazón” – launching Nick Chavarría as songwriter and co-Executive producer on the album. The song is performed by the Folklore Urbano Orchestra, featuring  the amazing Jainardo Batista from Puerto Rico.  Jainardo carries the sounds of Cuba and Puerto Rico in his powerful voice, a contrast to the West African timbre heard in “Black is Beautiful,” and in other songs to come on the album, sung by Laurent Hounsavi.

Cover art by Carlos Hernández, photo taken in El Barrio by David Bedell.

El Barrio Project-SALSA is a celebration of the traditions and sounds of “El Barrio” (Spanish Harlem), bringing together musicians from different places, different backgrounds, uniting people and sounds: #GlobalSalsa.
