Pablo Mayor will present a talk and short performance about his experience as a Colombian in the USA, and his thoughts about the “new” American culture and how we might TODAY define “American” music in light of immigrants who have been woven into the fabric of this great country over many, many years, becoming a part of what is considered “American.”
The theme is “RISE” and in the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. The event is called TEDxTarrytown, where x = independently organized TED event. At the TEDxTarrytown event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including this one, are self-organized.
